Choice Engineering Consultant was excited to attend the 9th Annual Florida Automated Vehicle Summit in Orlando, Florida from November 29 through December 01, 2021. Notable guests at the event included Florida Senator Jeff Brandes, FDOT Secretary Kevin Thibault, and Executive Director of Central Florida Expressway Authority – Laura Kelley.
Both Carlos Francis and Erik Echezabal attended the 3-day summit. They both attended numerously Automated, Connected, Electric, and Shared (ACES) breakout sessions related to automated vehicles in the agriculture industry, National and State AV policy, FDOT CAV initiatives such as the I-4 FRAME project, the use of autonomous trucking for both long haul and “middle-mile”, advancing safety using emerging technologies and many other extremely interesting areas related to CAV technology. There was a tremendous amount of interesting and educational information provided about what the future of ACES holds. We were also able to spend some time with our current partner on the Keys COAST design-build project, Precision Contracting Services, Inc. (PCS)!! They had an exhibitor booth inside the venue. In addition, there
were numerous student poster easels, containing various study projects performed by students from UF (GO GATORS!!!!), UCF, FAMU-FSU, FAU, and USF, among others. Very interesting subjects were chosen for some of these projects!!! The future is bright!!!
