TRAFFIC ENGINEERING INTERN

ENTRY LEVEL (TSM&O)

Full-Time
This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated and driven individual to join a team of dedicated transportation professionals in a full-time, in-house role primarily based in Palm Beach County Vista Center (and our Broward office). The position offers hands-on experience, strong mentorship, and exposure to real-world transportation challenges in a collaborative and supportive work environment. The role will focus on traffic analysis and signal retiming efforts throughout FDOT District 4, including Broward, Palm Beach, St. Lucie, Martin, and Indian River counties, with potential support to additional districts as needed. This position offers a strong opportunity to expand your technical expertise in signal and arterial operations while working closely with our team. Training is provided on-site. We are passionate about helping public agencies improve transportation systems that make a meaningful impact in our communities.
Key Responsabilities
· Support signal and arterial retiming projects, contributing to improved trafficoperations and roadway efficiency. · Conduct traffic analyses and collaborate with team members on various operationalinitiatives. · Expand your expertise in signal/arterial operations and traffic management strategies. · Participate in in-house staffing to support ongoing and signal retiming efforts. · Support ITS and traffic signal engineering, including analysis, research, and technicalwriting. · Gain exposure to the full lifecycle of traffic engineering studies, including datacollection, field investigations, engineering analysis, and report preparation.

Qualifications: • Bachelors degree: in Civil Engineering, (Preferred emphasis in Transportation). Engineering Intern License preferred. • Experience: No prior experience needed.Training on site. • Software: Experience with Microsoft Office. • Work independently and collaboratively: Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team- oriented environment. • Writing & communication skills: Strong technical writing and communication skills.
