We are looking for a motivated individual for the position of Entry-Level Data Collection Technician. In this role, you will work under the supervision of a Team Leader, who will assign data collection and plan production tasks. Engineering Technician duties consist of conducting field data collection to determine traffic volume, speed, effectiveness of signals, and other factors influencing traffic conditions, under the direction of a traffic engineer. Key Responsibilities
1 Install traffic counting equipment on Florida roadways. 2 Place automatic counting machines at designated sites, assure counting machines operate accurately, and collect data from machines. 3 Participate in special traffic engineering surveys. 4 Perform manual classification of vehicular traffic, record vehicle occupancy counts, conduct highway and transit surveys, and manually count pedestrian and bicycle traffic, as required. 5 Carry out road inventories including the measurement of road mileage within a defined area. 6 Collect data for inventory of physical characteristics of highway systems. Survey and report physical and operational features of roadways and intersections for inclusion in technical reports, as required. 7 Conduct travel time surveys and other transportation surveys. 8 Collect and record traffic turning movements at highway intersections. Log traffic data while watching videos. 9 Input data collected on specific template pertaining to the task to be delivered to engineer. 10 Do maintenance work to ensure traffic counting equipment is clean, properly stored, and keep inventory of parts. 11 Follow established state and federal guidelines for working safely on roadways. 12 Follow established state and federal guidelines for working safely on roadways.

DATA COLLECTION TECHNICIAN

Full-Time
1 Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships. 2 Must be reliable, trustworthy, and a team player. 3 Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and operate a motor vehicle in a responsible and safe manner. 4 Ability to become knowledgeable regarding the techniques and operation of devices used in collecting comprehensive data for a wide variety of transportation planning surveys and studies. 5 Ability to interpret roadway maps. 6 Ability to become knowledgeable regarding techniques used in conducting various types of traffic surveys. 7 Ability to use and care for automatic and manual traffic recording instruments. 8 Ability to communicate effectively (English & Spanish). 9 Ability to perform regular maintenance work on traffic count equipment. 10 Ability to work outdoors in all adverse weather conditions. 11 Sufficient physical stamina required for strenuous activities including but not limited to: lifting and relocating boxes up to 55 pounds. 12 Ability to squat, bend, kneel, and stand frequently, as well as sit in a vehicle for extended periods of time.
