RCI Data Specialist
Full-Time or Part Time
Choice Engineering Consultants is seeking motivated and detail-oriented
professionals to support the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) District 6
in Roadway Characteristics Inventory (RCI), traffic data collection, and transportation
statistics efforts.
This position plays a critical role in supporting FDOT for
transportation planning, traffic monitoring, and system performance evaluation
programs, with responsibilities encompassing both field data collection and office-
based data processing.
The ideal candidate will be a reliable and self-motivated
professional with strong observational and documentation skills. They will be flexible
enough to work varied schedules, including early mornings and evenings, as
needed, and will thrive in both independent and team environments while
demonstrating excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Key Responsabilities
· Conduct RCI field data collection, including roadway characteristics, geometric
features, and inventory updates, per current FDOT RCI data manuals.
· Document field conditions, including number of lanes, storage lengths,
and tapers & traffic control devices and signal infrastructure.
· Assist with HPMS and traffic count database updates
· Perform quality control / quality assurance (QA/QC) on collected data.
· Support preparation of Straight-Line Diagrams (SLDs) and data deliverables.
· Coordinate with project managers and other staff to ensure timely and accurate
deliverables.

Qualifications:
· Experience in traffic data collection,
RCI, and roadway inventory.
· Familiarity with current FDOT procedures,
including Traffic Monitoring Handbook &
RCI User Manual/ RCI Handbook.
· Ability to work in field environments
(including roadway conditions)
· Strong attention to detail and commitment
to data accuracy and quality control
· Basic understanding of roadway geometry
and traffic operations
· Proficiency with FDOT RCI Systems and Microsoft Excel;
GIS or CADD experience is a plus
